 Some people take diet pills to help them lose weight. However, these pills are sometimes effective for losing weight without effort, but they are not safe for our health. When our body gets used to a chemical material we begin to feel a strong desire to continue the abuse of this material in order to function properly. The abusing of diet pills is often associated with heart problems, kidney failure and whole health problems that are life- threatening and difficult to heal. Also, when you try to stop taking diet pills, you may have severe withdrawal symptoms such as depression, irritability, headache, nausea and vomiting.
The liver is the organ responsible for ridding the body of toxins and other harmful elements. Many diet pills cause liver damage, a disease which can be cured if it is diagnosed and treated in time, but the disease may not cause noticeable symptoms therefore it will be difficult to detect it right on time.
Pulmonary hypertension is a type of high blood pressure that affects the arteries in the lungs. Diet pills can increase the risk of this disease six times. Symptoms of pulmonary hypertension may include shortness of breath, especially during exercise, fatigue, dizziness, swelling of the ankles and legs or abdomen, chest pain and rapid heart beat. These symptoms, if left untreated, can cause bleeding in the lungs.
Finally, diet pills may cause cardiac arrest. FDA has put a ban on diet pills containing ephedra pills after the emergence of adverse effects such as stroke, heart attack and death. However, there are some diet pills which may cause similar effects and are still available to consumers.
